Glenrochie Country Club was a 9-hole facility designed by Alex McKay in 1958. It was built on land acquired from Camp Glenrochie which was an all girls camp dating back to the 1800’s! 

In 1989, Dan Maples designed the second 9 holes to complete the beautiful 18-hole, 7,000 yard layout. Until the beginning of 2011, the front 9 played relatively flat with generous fairways, and the back 9 challenged players with elevation changes and tight, tree lined fairways. 

Today, the course plays different from years ago, but Glenrochie has always been known for its fast, tricky, and undulating greens.

Meet our Head Golf Professional

Chris Stacy

Chris is a proud native of Pennington Gap, Virginia. He began his golf career in Lee County as Assistant Golf Professional in 1996 at Cedar Hill Country Club. In October 2000, he left Cedar Hill to continue the same role at Lonesome Pine Country Club in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Five years later, Chris was promoted to Head Golf Professional at Lonesome Pine and remained in that role until 2017. In that same year, he left Lonesome Pine to take the Head Professional position at the Country Club of Bristol. Chris quickly returned to Lonesome Pine Country Club to take on the role of General Manager and Head Professional when their longtime General Manager relocated out of state. Chris is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University where he received a B.S. in athletic training. Along with receiving his degree, Chris played golf for the Railsplitters. Chris is a seven-time player of the year winner in the Tri-Cities PGA Chapter along with winning the Tri-Cities PGA Chapter Championship nine times. He is a former winner of the Tri-Cities PGA Chapter Private Merchandiser of the Year. He also won the 2009 Coca-Cola Open in Oak Ridge, TN. He has qualified for the 2007 Knoxville Open on the Korn Ferry Tour along with the 2012 Club Professional National Championship at the Bayonet and Black Horse Courses in Seaside, CA. Chris and his wife, Lindsay, who is an educator, currently live in Big Stone Gap with their 10-year-old son, Jackson.
